After an initial assessment of the written material found, a reference to the RAF cannot be ruled out, LKA announced on Saturday. It is believed that the underground warehouse was created decades ago. According to the spokesperson, the age of the found objects indicates this. The documents are therefore from the 1980s. LKA currently assumes that the finding does not provide any evidence of the whereabouts of three former RAF members Ernst Volker Staub, Burkhard Garweg and Daniela Klette, who hid. The RAF disintegrated in 1998.
Barrel showed up on Friday
A barrel hidden in a ground depot was reportedly discovered on Friday during tree felling. LKA didn’t say how big the bunker was. In addition to the documents, containers of originally unknown fluids were seized. According to the LKA, weapons were not included. The mobile laboratory team checked the contents of the barrel on site for hazardous substances. After complete evacuation, the barrel was excavated and taken to the LKA Forensic Institute for further investigation. The forest area around the site has also been extensively sought after for other warehouses, it says.
